Houthi Militia Conducts Raids and Abductions in Al-Makha
Houthi militia forces have launched a series of raids and abductions targeting the homes of civilians and military personnel in Al-Makha and its surrounding rural areas in western Taiz Governorate over the past two days.
Local sources reported that militia elements forcibly entered several residences in the city, including the home of Saeed Suleiman Abadi in the Al-Maghini neighborhood, which was stormed on Sunday evening. The operations extended to the Al-Zahari sub-district, where multiple individuals were abducted and taken to undisclosed locations, leaving their families in distress regarding their safety and whereabouts.
The raids involved the participation of Houthi-affiliated female units, who assisted in the search and seizure operations. This campaign is part of a broader security crackdown directed at both civilians and military figures within the city and its outskirts.
These actions represent a continuation of the systematic violations perpetrated by the Houthi militia since they seized control of the region last month. Human rights reports and official documentation indicate a pattern of extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, property looting, and the forced imposition of levies on the local population.
The ongoing intimidation tactics have heightened anxiety among the residents of Al-Makha. The militia continues to tighten its security grip, conducting persistent surveillance and pursuit of individuals while withholding information concerning the status of detainees or the specific charges brought against them.
