Government Forces Launch Offensive Against Houthi Positions in Western Taiz
Yemeni government forces launched a significant offensive against Houthi militia positions in the Al-Maidan heights, located west of Taiz, as clashes intensified across multiple fronts within the governorate on Monday.
The media center for the Taiz military axis reported that government troops engaged in fierce combat with Houthi forces along several frontlines, including Al-Shaqab, Al-Aqroud, and the perimeter of Mount Han. Fighting also extended to the Al-Dhabab area and various northern battlefronts, reflecting an uptick in regional hostilities.
In support of the ground offensive, military aircraft conducted eight precision airstrikes targeting Houthi concentrations and fortified positions. These strikes focused on the Al-Hamra Hill, the Al-Khazan and Al-Maidan hills, and the surrounding areas of Mount Han.
This surge in military activity follows a period of persistent tension in Taiz, which remains a focal point of ongoing escalation between government forces and Houthi militias. The situation continues to evolve as both sides sustain their efforts to control strategic positions in the embattled governorate.
