National Resistance Commander Killed in West Coast Ambush

Brigadier General Yahya Waish, commander of the First Division of the National Resistance, was killed on Saturday when an explosive device targeted his convoy in the West Coast region.

Military media announced that the explosion occurred while Brigadier General Waish and his companions were passing through an area in the West Coast. The device detonated, causing injuries to the commander and several of his escorts. Those injured were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Brigadier General Waish succumbed to his injuries, and one of his escorts also died. Two other individuals sustained varying degrees of wounds. Initial assessments suggest that Houthi militias are likely responsible for planting the explosive device. Competent authorities are continuing their investigations to ascertain the full details of the incident and identify those accountable.

Brigadier General Waish had been appointed commander of the First Division of the National Resistance just last month as part of a reorganization aimed at enhancing combat readiness and unifying field command for forces stationed in the West Coast.

The deceased was among the earliest fighters to engage in confrontation with the Houthis, dating back to the battles of Kataf in Saada Governorate in 2013. His name also emerged as one of the prominent field commanders who participated in the liberation battles of the West Coast, spanning from Dhubab and Bab al-Mandab to the city of Hodeidah.
